An Olympic champion, two coaches, five athletes and three state title teams were among the inaugural inductees of the Oregon School District’s athletic hall of fame.

There were eight individuals, including two former MLB pitchers, Peru native Russ “Monk” Meyer and Guy Hoffman of Ottawa Marquette, and a longtime NBA radio announcer, five coaches and three championship teams inducted into the Shaw Media Illinois Valley Sports Hall of Fame.

Sixteen awards were given out to teams and individuals during the 2024 Shaw Media Illinois Valley Sports Hall of Fame at the Auditorium Ballroom in La Salle.

Nominations for 2024 awards are due by May 1

The Class of 2022 was inducted into the third annual Shaw Media Illinois Valley Sports Hall of Fame ceremonies Thursday evening at the Auditorium Ballroom in downtown LaSalle.

Mac Resetich and Riley Coble both homered as Hall blasted Mendota 11-0 in TRAC East baseball play Thursday at Mendota.

Events including a one-act play festival, college night and student-led charitable project, along with the call for Hall of Fame nominations, are announced by Lyons Township High School District 204.
