Three Rock Falls men were in police custody Wednesday, July 2, accused of entering a garage in rural Rock Falls during a party over the weekend, assaulting a man, firing multiple gunshots at the residence and fleeing.

Dixon Mayor Glen Hughes administered the oath of office at Monday’s City Council meeting to two firefighters who joined the Dixon City Fire Department last summer.

The Dixon City Fire Department, Dixon Rural FPD and Advance EMS were dispatched Friday, May 16, 2025, to 1622 W. Ninth St. for a reported garage fire.

When crews arrived at 8:05 a.m. Monday, April 14, they found a two-story residence with a heavy fire on the second floor, Dixon Rural Fire Chief Dustin Dahlstrom said.

Several fire departments responded to a house fire at 8423 East Illinois Route 38 on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 5, 2025. A portion of the state highway, between Chana Road and Brooklyn Road, was closed to allow crews to bring in tankers to help extinguish the blaze.

A structure fire along state Route 38 near Ashton resulted in “a total loss” as crews battled against strong winds Wednesday afternoon, Ashton Fire Chief Bernard Richter said.

The Dixon City Council at its most recent meeting recognized David Boucher, who began his career with the department in July 2004 and retired Feb. 17.

Small fire broke out at Alley Loop Saloon & Deli in Dixon shortly after 10:30 p.m.

The event gives community members the opportunity to meet first responders and see the equipment. No flashing lights or sirens will be activated.
