A man has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after crashing early Friday into the Uncle Jon’s Music store in downtown Westmont.

A Rochelle woman was hospitalized Wednesday after suffering what police called a medical issue while driving that caused her car to crash into a tree, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Four vehicles, including a semi-trailer truck and a Pace bus, were involved in a crash Thursday morning on Interstate 80.

Chicago-based GWC Injury Lawyers filed the two-count lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court. In the first count – wrongful death – the suit seeks more than $50,000 in damages and in the second count – survival act – the suit also seeks more than $50,000.

The crash happened at 3:03 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2025, on Moline Road near Hillside Road, according to a Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office news release.

It is not known if the driver was having a medical emergency at the time of the crash, Oswego Police Chief Jason Bastin has said. The restaurant recently reopened its drive-thru and dining room and white and orange construction barrels have been placed in front of the building.
