The Hall Red Devils had a memorable 10-day stretch when they beat rivals LaSalle-Peru, St. Bede and Princeton. It started with 55-54 win over the Cavs at home on Dec. 3 followed by wins over the Bruins 59-49 (Dec. 4) and the Tigers 56-49 (Dec. 13) during the Colmone Classic.

Fieldcrest defeated L-P 48-38 to win the 50th annual Colmone Classic championship on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024 at Hall High School.

It was Fieldcrest’s second straight Colmone championship and record 14th overall.

Princeton defeated Pontiac, 52-43, for fifth place, avenging an earlier 58-34 defeat to the Indians at the Ottawa Thanksgiving Tournament just two weeks ago. Hall beats Marquette for seventh place, Bureau Valley beats St. Bede for ninth place

The Knights seek their 13th Colmone Classic crown, their first since 2014, while the Rockets seek their third since 2016.

The Knights have a chance to add to that great tradition, defeating LaSalle-Peru, 74-47, in Friday’s semifinals at Hall.

Marquette will play Bureau Valley at 5 p.m. followed by Rock Falls vs. St. Bede at 6:30 p.m. and Princeton vs. Putnam County in the nightcap at 8 p.m.

Davis made two defensive stops in the final 30 seconds of the game to steal away a 52-47 victory over Pontiac, the Tigers' second straight Colmone Classic championship.

It was the second straight Colmone Classic championship for Princeton, which improved to 10-0 with the win.

A trip to Saturday’s championship will be on line in Friday’s semifinals. The first will match Princeton (2-0) vs. Marquette (2-0) at 6:30 p.m. followed by Putnam County (2-0) vs. Pontiac (2-0) at 8 p.m.

Friday’s semifinals of the Colmone Classic have been set.

The Princeton, Putnam County and La Salle-Peru boys basketball teams won Tuesday in the Colmone Classic at Hall High School.

Three teams return to action in this year’s Colmone Classic while three teams make their debut.

Grady Thompson led the Tigers to the Colmone Classic title with 80 points (20.0 ppg), the second most in the tournament.

A pool championship tiebreaker and semifinals victory later, the Tigers made it all the way back to capture the Colmone championship, defeating LaSalle-Peru, 66-62, in front of a large crowd at Hall High School Saturday night.

The Knights took a 7-6 first-quarter lead and held it throughout, leading 17-10 at the half and 25-19 at the end of the third quarter.

Princeton and L-P will clash for the championship at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers made it out of the Gray Pool by virtue of a tiebreaker and beat Rock Falls 62-38 in Friday’s semifinals. The Cavaliers swept both games in the White Pool and defeated Pontiac 63-46 Friday night.

The Black Pool title will be on the line in the second game when Bureau Valley (1-0) and Rock Falls (1-0) clash at 6:30 p.m. The winner moves on to Friday’s semifinals.
