The Romeoville High School Marching Spartans will host the seventh annual Spartan Classic, featuring marching bands from throughout the Chicago suburbs, on Saturday, Sept. 21.

Plainfield South High School will host its seventh annual marching band invitational on Saturday at the school. Marching bands from the Chicago area will be competing.

Tournament of Roses president Ed Morales will visit the Lincoln-Way community this weekend and tour all three high schools - Lincoln-Way East, Lincoln-Way Central and Lincoln-Way West.

The National Champion American Legion Senior Band is hosting a concert on Sunday, June 2 to raise money to send its members to New Orleans in August to compete once again in the American Legion National Conference competition.

The entry fee for this fundraising event is $20 per person. Teams will consist of six people.

Jaden Teague-Núñez, 16, a sophomore at DeKalb High School, won first place in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artists Competition playing the steelpan and will appear as a soloist in a CSO youth concert during the 2024-25 season.

Board members and those present celebrated the fact that they were selected as a top state pep band twice this year.

The jazz workshop and festival will include clinics and masterclasses for more than 240 local students.

The Princeton Area Youth Band, led by Megan and Steven Olson, will present a concert at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 16 in Soldiers and Sailors Park, located at 14 Park Ave. E. in Princeton.

The Chicago Scots will bring back the Midwest’s largest Scottish event to Hamilton Lakes in Itasca on Friday and Saturday, June 16 and 17.

The band is open to anyone who has their own instrument, can read music and is entering high school or older. Rehearsals will run every Thursday evening throughout the season.

Rock Falls is one of 16 schools with bands and choirs entered into the sectional at Stockton. But it is the only school in its enrollment classification at the site.

The RFHS band worked on their musical selections Tuesday, April 11, 2023 ahead of this weekend's IHSA organizational music contest.

Rock Falls High School held their ninth annual Percussion Palooza Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023 at the school. The event brings together drumming enthusiasts for performance and instruction in the art of the the rhythm.

DeKalb High School music students traveled to southern California this past weekend to perform with school bands and orchestra ensembles in Los Angeles and San Diego.

“The increase in the budget would allow us to do the same things wealthier communities and districts are able to do without charging families any extra fees,” said DeKalb High School Band Director Steve Lundin on a $32,000 budget increase request.
