Spearheaded by Sterling FFA Sentinel Kadielynn Nelson and President Grace Wetzell, the group worked with Meals from the Heartland, an organization made up of volunteers who package meals that are then sent to underserved communities.
Within the Impact Program, high school students who graduate within SVCC’s district, which includes Whiteside, Lee, and parts of Bureau, Ogle, Henry and Carroll counties, can earn their tuition through completing community service hours.
Sterling students graduate May 24; Dixon and Rock Falls seniors graduate May 26.

Schools are finding ways for students to celebrate safely
The Really Big Numbers Club gathered in a multipurpose room around a plastic sheet. Cans of paint lined the wall underneath the whiteboard. The 25 Ashton-Franklin Center Elementary School fourth-graders were there to paint planets for their community solar system.
