WASHINGTON, D.C. — KSB Hospital in Dixon will receive $334,000 in a direct spending request made by U.S. Sens. Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, they announced on Wednesday.
The funding will be used to renovate three labor and delivery rooms for the Dixon medical center. The improvements will include new casework, lighting and equipment, and restrooms, a news release from the senators said.
Durbin said spending priorities for Illinois were secured through the directed spending process and through the legislative appropriations process. “I’m also pleased to see the return of Congressionally Directed Spending for this upcoming fiscal year,” he said in the news release. “Senators and Representatives know their states and districts better than federal agency personnel in Washington.”
The KSB money was one of four projects within the Agriculture, Rural Development and Food and Drug Administration appropriations. The others were $250,000 to upgrade federal inspection stations at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, $1 million to address habitat restoration in the polluted ecosystem on the South Branch of the Chicago River and $115,000 to Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield to expand rural telemedicine.
