Grand Detour Golf Cart Parade

A stream of golf carts and all-terrain vehicles head down a street in Grand Detour during the annual parade.
A vintage Jeep, owned by Jim and Connie Ross of Grand Detour, led the start of the 2021 Grand Detour Golf Cart Parade on July 3.

The Welty family decorated their golf cart as a Cajun Swamp Tours cart during the Grand Detour Golf Cart Parade on July 3. Here, Finn Sommers, 10, the grandson of Tom Welty drives the cart as Tom rides in the passenger seat. Finn and his brother and sister Ryder, 8, and Isla 5, had the idea for this year's decorating theme after visiting Mississippi and taking a swamp tour. Ryder and Isla, along with their grandmother, Steffaney, rode in the back.

Roger and Joan Kelly, this year's Grand Marshals for the Grand Detour Golf Cart Parade, ride past the John Deere Historic Site at the start of the July 3 parade. The couple used to live in Grand Detour and were the owners of the Ace Hardware store in Dixon. Rich Kelly, a current owner of the store, was their driver.
