Closed Stop-N-Go in Dixon to reopen as a 24/7 BP under new ownership

DIXON – The former Stop-N-Go gas station and convenience store on the northeastern outskirts of town, which closed about a year ago, will reopen soon as a BP, its new owner said.

Junaid Ahmed of Noor Realty, which is based in Schaumberg, bought the station at 1100 E. River Road/Route 2 last week from Kwik Trip Inc. for $475,000, Lee County property records show.

He and his business partner, Almas Khan, plan to open the station in early December, well before the holidays, Ahmed said Monday.

The exact date largely will depend on when the new pumps arrive and are installed, he said.

They checked with the state fire marshal’s office, and as long as the store opens before May, they won’t have to replace the underground tanks, Ahmed said.

The gas station and convenience store will be open 24 hours, Khan said.

The two hope to capitalize on the fact that the Raynor Garage Doors factory is close by and also open around the clock, and that theirs will be the first gas station that people coming to Dixon from Lost Nation, Oregon, and Grand Detour will encounter.

They also are exploring the possibility of offering video gaming, Ahmed said.

The City Council, in an attempt to keep a rein on video gaming, has denied gaming permits for gas stations, although the two are welcome to make their pitch, City Manager Danny Langloss said.

This will be a reincarnation of sorts – the station, which was a Circle K before Stop-N-Go, was a BP in the past, decades ago.
