The big hit eluded Dixon on Tuesday as the Dukes fell 5-2 to North Boone for the second straight day. Mistakes were also costly in a matchup of two teams toward the top of the Big Northern Conference standings.

In a battle between the two division leaders in the Three Rivers Conference, the Newman Comets came through in the clutch Friday against Sherrard, as six two-out RBIs over a three-inning stretch led to a 10-3 victory.

Despite going without a real hit until the seventh inning, Sterling nearly pulled out a win against Alleman. The rally fell short, however, in a 5-4 Big 6 loss Wednesday at a rainy Gartner Park.

Due to a scheduling conflict at Dozer Park, the IHSA announced Wednesday that its 2025 Class 1A and Class 2A Baseball State Finals will be played in Champaign-Urbana instead of Peoria.

In a roller coaster of a game, Rock Falls watched a five-run lead disappear before scoring three times in the top of the seventh inning for a 10-8 win over Dixon on Tuesday.

Newman sophomore Michael Morse drove in the trying run with a base hit in the sixth inning. Then he came in to pitch with the bases loaded and two outs and struck out the only batter he faced to end the game as the Comets held on for a 3-2 Three Rivers win at Princeton.
