The Erie Public Library is hosting its annual book sale from May 1-15. Come check out books for sale: Adult and children’s, fiction and non-fiction, hardback and paperback, all ages, all genres. Books cost 25 cents and all proceeds go toward more library programming.
Get Your Own Microgreens
The doctor said to eat healthier but giant salads aren’t your thing. With an estimated 40 times the nutrients of their full-grown plants, microgreens can get you on track to your goals. Come to the library and get your daily serving of microgreens (and a few recipes to try with them) completely free.
Seams Easy: Throw Pillow Workshop
May 20, 6-8 p.m.: A hands-on sewing workshop for beginners. You know how to use a sewing machine – now let’s make it actually work for you. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll build the foundational skills that make every future project easier, cleaner, and a whole lot less frustrating. There is a $10 materials fee.
You’ll walk away knowing how to:
- Choose the right fabric for any project
- Read grain lines and understand fabric behavior
- Cut accurately so your pieces fit together
- Pin and handle fabric like a pro
- Sew straight seams with confidence
- Navigate notions without overwhelm
- Finish edges cleanly
- Leave with a completed project in hand
Board Game Club
Everyone knows board gamers are the coolest group around and now they’re at the Erie Public Library in this monthly meet-up. From 5 to 8 p.m. June 2, come play one of our games or bring one of yours, meet new gamers here or bring some friends. Either way, it’s a low-key evening spent playing games you love. Bring snacks and your A-game! This event is unsupervised. Recommended ages: 15 and up. Younger with an adult.
Cookbook Club
The book club with all the best food! Every month we choose a new book and each cook one recipe from it. Then we meet up and feast! This month we are meeting from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 6 and we are cooking recipes from 100 Morning Treats! Stop by the library to flip through the book and pick out a recipe. Email your recipe selection to Director@EriePublicLibrary.com. The event is free.
Lego Club
June 13, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Come build with our massive Lego collection. Bring a friend or meet one here. Work as a team or create something independently. Either way, you belong to the best Lego club around and get access to incredibly unique Legos. Lego Club is unsupervised. No registration is required. Recommended ages: 9 and up (or younger with adult). The event is free.
Open Studio
June 20, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Artists and crafters: This is your chance to work with and be inspired by other artists. Come to the library and join Open Studio. Bring your knitting, sewing, painting, literally any art or craft you’re working on - and don’t forget the snacks!
Meet with your fellow artists, swap ideas, and get caught up on your craft (and chats!).
