5 Things to Do: Spaghetti supper, ABATE swap meet in the Sauk Valley

  1. Harmon United Methodist Church spaghetti supper: Harmon United Methodist Church, 202 N. Grove St., Harmon, will host a spaghetti supper from 4-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13. The menu includes spaghetti, bread, salad, desserts and drinks, hot dogs and buns. A free-will offering will be accepted. The building is accessible.
  2. River Cities Quilters Guild: The guild will meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Fulton Presbyterian Church, 311 Ninth St. in Fulton. The guest speaker will be Barry Kniss, who will talk about making barn quilts. Anyone interested is invited to attend.
  3. Pancakes for a cause: Ebenezer Reformed Church, 309 E. Park St., will host a community pancake supper at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19. Donations will fund scholarships to send children to Camp Manitoqua in Frankfort. The menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and applesauce. Pancake choices are plain, chocolate chip and blueberry. The meal will be served in the downstairs fellowship hall. A drive-through pickup from the parking lot also is available as are scheduled deliveries for shut-ins. Call the church office at 815-772-2472 by Sunday, Feb. 16, to order a home meal delivery. Proceeds from the event will support the church’s camp scholarships for kids.
  4. ABATE Swap Meet: The Twin Rivers chapter of A Brotherhood Aimed Toward Education is having its 17th annual motorcycle swap meet Sunday, Feb. 23. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dixon Elks Lodge, 1279 Franklin Grove Road, Dixon. Admission costs $5. Children 12 and younger are admitted free. Early bird tickets cost $7. Vendors will be selling all makes and models of new and used parts, leathers and biker clothes, motorcycle photos and more. A new Harley-Davidson raffle bike will be on display, and raffle tickets will be available. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be available all day. Vendor space is available for $25.   5. Farm Toy Show: The 40th annual Polo Farm Toy Show will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Polo Centennial Grade School, 308 S. Pleasant Ave., Polo. The show is sponsored by the Polo Lions Club. There will be about 100 dealer tables and a 50/50 raffle (don’t need to be present to win). The building is accessible and the cafeteria will be open and run by the Polo FFA. Adult admission is $3 and children younger than 12 get in free.
