Dixon in third: Friday’s state bowling roundup for Sauk Valley

Oregon also advanced to Saturday’s final round

After Friday’s six games at St. Clair Bowl in Fairview Heights, the Dixon boys are in position to have their best finish in program history. Looking to improve on last year’s 11th-place finish, the Dukes are in third place with a 6,191, 48 pins behind Harlem and 300 behind first-place Harrisburg.

Dixon senior Wyatt Miller is in third place with a 1,371, just 31 pins off the lead. David Laird (1,230) is in 53rd, Cody Geil (1,226) is in 57th and Daniel Sotelo (1,204) is in 66th for Dixon. Aaron Fitzanko (1,160) is in 86th to round out Dixon’s scoring.

Oregon (5,963) is in 11th place and will also advance to Saturday’s final six games as one of the top 12 teams for the first time. Senior Gavvin Surmo (1,303) is in 20th place for the Hawks and RJ Keene (1,242) is in 46th. Ethan Smice (1,207) is in 63rd and Aiden Currier (1,049) is in 120th for Oregon. Matthew Stahl (999) and Caleb Brooks (163) also scored for the Hawks.
