Illinois Wesleyan senior and Amboy grad Mallory Powers

Amboy High School graduate and Illinois Wesleyan senior Mallory Powers was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday after scoring a career-high 21 points last week for the undefeated and second-ranked Titans.

The team’s co-captain was 7 of 9 from the field and 3 of 3 from beyond the arc in her 21-point performance in an 81-60 win at Millikin on Wednesday. She also had 10 rebounds, six assists and three steals in the win.

In a 93-57 win over Wheaton on Saturday, she hit five 3-pointers and scored 17 points with seven assists and seven rebounds, two steals and a block.

It is the second weekly award for Powers, who has helped the Titans (18-0, 9-0 CCIW) to their best start since the 2009-10 season. She is third on the team in scoring this season with 11.1 points per game and second in rebounds at 5.8.

She was named to the All-CCIW first team last season and D3hoops.com All-Region third team.
