Boggios Orchard and Produce held their 26th Annual Pumpkin Harvest Craft Show on Saturday in Granville. The weekend-long event featured over 100 craft vendors, live music, food and much more. Boggio's has a market, bakery, and pumpkin hill that is free of charge this season. There is a cost to take the kids to the play area which includes a jumping pillow, corn maze, wagon rides, a petting zoo, and playground.
Rachel Mershon of Granville has been volunteering behind the desk of the Starved Rock Bookstore since 2003. Mershon celebrated her 94th birthday on Monday with park staff inside the Starved Rock Visitors Center. Mershon has driven 30 minutes to the Visitors Center every Monday to volunteer at the park ever since the bookstore opened in 2003. She has logged nearly 10,000 hours volunteering at the park.

A third alarm fire broke out at Washington Mills on Monday, Aug. 18, 2025, near Hennepin. A Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) call was placed shortly after 11 a.m. Fire departments from La Salle, Bureau and Putnam Counties assisted with the fire. The plant produces silicon carbide.
