Workers continued to demolish the historic, but dilapidated, school building that had stood in Polo for 126 years. Congress Ave., Tuesday, March 28, 2025, creating small clouds of dust as the 18-inch-thick brick walls were collapsed, sparking waves of nostalgia from former students.

Firefighters from several departments responded to a structure fire at 6727 W. Henry Road, southeast of Polo, around 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025. At least one vehicle and a camper along with several items were lost in the garage fire. No injuries were reported. Crews responding included Polo, Mt. Morris, Sterling, Forreston, Oregon, Dixon Rural, EMS Advance, Milledgeville, Chadwick, Dixon City, and Franklin Grove.





A rural Oregon home was heavily damaged by a late-morning fire Wednesday with one person transported to an area hospital by ambulance. Firefighters were dispatched to the small home, located at 2010 S. Second St., at around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday. Daysville is an unincorporated community located southeast of Oregon, on S. Daysville Road, about 2 miles south of state route Illinois 64.


Sunny skies and spring-like temperatures didn’t deter visitors from stopping by the Forreston FFA Alumni’s 37th Annual Farm Toy and Craft Show at Forreston High School on Saturday, March 8. Farm toy and craft exhibitors, a silent auction, a coloring station for kids, and a Farm Toy Display Competition were all part of the fundraiser for the Forreston FFA program.
