Crash leaves Rochelle man dead, Lindenwood teen injured

ROCHELLE — An 81-year-old man is dead following a Jan. 21 crash north of Rochelle.

George Hall III, of Rochelle, was pronounced dead at the scene of the two-vehicle crash, which occurred in the area of Illinois Route 64 and Moore Road around 10:57 a.m., according to Ogle County sheriff’s reports.

An on-scene investigation revealed Hall was driving a Chevrolet Cruze west on Route 64 when he crossed over the center line of the roadway into the eastbound lane, the report reads. Hall struck an eastbound Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck driven by Jacob Hackbarth, 19, of Lindenwood. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage, and Hackbarth’s pickup truck overturned, according to the report.

Hackbarth was transported by Lynn-Scott-Rock EMS to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center for minor injuries, the report reads.

Rochelle EMS and the Illinois State Police assisted. The crash remains under investigation.
