Due to issues arising from the late leaf drop, McHenry Township Road District will be conducting a one-time leaf pickup throughout the township starting Thursday, Dec. 2.
Leaf pickup is not a service usually provided by the township, but the service that normally picks up leaves is not going to provide another leaf pickup, the township’s office manager said. As a result, the road district decided to rent equipment and provide this service for township residents.
All leaves should be out to the edge of the roadway by 7 a.m., according to a news release. The pickup will continue, weather permitting, until all areas have been covered.
There will be no call back, the township road district said.
Leaf piles must be within 4 feet of the roadway edge or curbing. Leaves should not be pushed into drainage ditches or on the roadway and should be at least 4 feet from any obstructions.
Questions can be directed to the road district at 815-385-3076.
