A couple of cows seen roaming around McHenry have since been picked up by Animal Control, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt. Aimee Knop told the Northwest Herald in an email Saturday that area residents had seen two cows roaming free for nearly two days. In a Facebook post shared Friday night, the sheriff’s office said the animals had been in the area of Crystal Lake Road and Raintree Drive in McHenry.

“Deputies have interviewed the cows, conducted a neighborhood canvass, collected Angus fingerprints but so far there are no moooooooooving leads,” according to the Facebook post, which garnered over 300 shares.

At this time, Knop said, the sheriff’s office has not heard from Animal Control on whether the cows have been reunited with their owners.
