McHenry County College is bringing back its occupational Spanish course in the spring.

The class is an introduction to practical Spanish designed to help students strengthen their conversational skills in daily, on-the-job interactions with native Spanish speakers, according to a news release.

“This course is geared toward students whose goal is to use Spanish in the workplace or employees who would benefit from using Spanish in their current job,” Lindsay Carson, MCC’s department chair of philosophy and languages, said in a statement. “It’s perfect for those who work with a wide range of demographics, such as those in nursing, fire science, horticulture, culinary and criminal justice.”

The class will be held in an online format from 6 to 7:20 p.m. Wednesdays from Jan. 19 through May 13.

The class is open to any student regardless of major and counts as a humanities elective. No previous knowledge of Spanish is required. General registration for spring classes opens in early November.
