Police have arrested a 19-year-old woman in connection with an armed robbery Nov. 22 at Sunrise Food and Liquor in Wonder Lake.

Alejandra Gil, of the 300 block of South Belmont Street, Elgin, was arrested Thursday on charges of armed robbery, theft, restraint and mob action, court records show.

Gil is accused of threatening to have been armed with a firearm and stealing more than $9,000 worth of cash and merchandise from the convenience store, according to a criminal complaint. The store clerk suffered minor injuries during the robbery, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.

Police at the time said that four people were involved, and at least one them was armed with what appeared to be a handgun. It was not immediately clear whether the weapon was real.

Police were alerted to the situation about 9:30 p.m. after receiving notification from a hold-up alarm, the sheriff’s office said at the time.

Gil remained at the McHenry County Jail on Friday on a $150,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court for a bond hearing Tuesday with an attorney from the McHenry County Public Defender’s Office.
