Fire crews responding to McCullom Lake Wednesday evening found a detached garage “heavily involved in fire,” the McHenry Township Fire Protection District said in a news release.

The fire protection district responded about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for a reported garage fire in the 4700 block of Lake Shore Drive in McCullom Lake, according to the release.

Crews made an “aggressive attack” on the inflamed detached garage, which was located in the rear of a home, and were able to confine damage to the garage with “only minor heat damage” to nearby buildings, according to the release. No one, civilian or firefighter, were injured.

No fire hydrants were available, so a water supply was established with the assistance of a Wonder Lake Fire Protection District water tender, according to the release.

Four other incidents took place at the same time as the fire, and those emergencies were handled by the Richmond Township Fire Protection District and additional McHenry Township Fire Protection District companies, according to the release.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and a dollar loss was not available at the time of the press release, the fire district said.
