Prairie Ridge's Katie Jewell ran the fastest 100 meters in Fox Valley Conference Girls Track and Field Meet history on May 2 and qualified for state in four events at Wednesday's Class 2A Carmel Sectional. The Wolves junior was voted the Northwest Herald Athlete of the Week.

Johnsburg senior Caitlyn Casella won the 100 and 200 meter titles at the McHenry County Girls Track and Field Meet April 19 and set a meet record in the 100. For her performance, Casella was selected as the Northwest Herald Athlete of the Week in an online vote.

Huntley hurdler Sophie Amin has recovered from a horrific ankle injury and is poised for a huge senior season. She also has signed with NCAA Division I South Dakota for next year. "I was very ambitious, I set a lot of goals for myself in rehab," Amin said.
