Richmond-Burton's Gina Scichowski recorded McHenry County's best finish ever by placing runner-up at the IHSA Girls Bowling State Tournament. The Rockets senior was selected as the 2024 Northwest Herald Girls Bowler of the Year.

Richmond-Burton's Gina Scichowski went to The Cherry Bowl in Rockford with hopes of winning a state title and nearly succeeded. She took second in the IHSA Girls Bowling State Tournament on Saturday.

Richmond-Burton senior Gina Scichowski won the Antioch Girls Bowling Regional championship on Feb. 3, then added a sectional title to her collection over the weekend. Scichowski was selected as the Northwest Herald Athlete of the Week in an online vote.

The Kishwaukee River Conference plans to start its boys and girls basketball seasons on Tuesday, Feb. 9 and play boys games at one school, with girls games at the other school on each night. The Fox Valley Conference's plans still need approval from administrations. The FVC hopes to start on Feb. 10.
