Huntley's boys track and field team had a lot to clap about during the Fox Valley Conference meet Thursday. The host Red Raiders overcame a deficit with two events left to beat Jacobs by one point and earn their third FVC championship in a row.

Woodstock's Ellery Shutt placed first in the 3,200 and 1,600 meters, and the Blue Streaks' depth shined to win their third Kishwaukee River Conference Boys Track and Field Meet in four years on Tuesday.

Despite only managing two wins on the day, St. Charles North surpassed expectations to win it's first-ever Kane County Meet championship, while five meet records were broken across the board at the 106th event, the most since 1977.
When all was said and done, St. Charles North captured the championship of the eight-team meet with 140.5 points. Huntley and Warren (103 points) tied for second followed by Fremd (96 points) in fourth, and the host Mustangs (93 points) in fifth.
Jacobs senior Matt Scardina starred on the football team and now is excelling as a first-year sprinter in track. He was named Athlete of the Meet after winning the 100, 200 and 400 dashes in the McHenry County Meet last week.
The best weather of the track and field season turned into a cold reality for Katie Jewell, briefly, fortunately for Prairie Ridge’s star sprinter. She pulled up lame after winning the 100 in the McHenry County meet, but also won the 200. Matt Scardina won three races for Jacobs.
