Water main break in Woodstock forces road closure

emergency lights

Businesses near Irving Avenue and Route 47 in Woodstock may be out of water for a couple hours Monday as crews work to fix a water main break.

Irving Avenue was closed at the Route 47 intersection because of the water main break, according to an alert from the city.

The alert was sent out about 9:40 a.m. Monday.

Crews are digging and trying to find out which pipe is the one that is leaking,Brent Aymond, the city’s public works director, said, adding there are multiple pipes in the area.

Crews are checking valves and some businesses may lose water while crews work, Aymond said.

The call for the water main break came overnight, but crews were unable to start digging until Monday morning, Aymond said.
