Crash into utility pole shuts down part of Route 14 in Harvard

A car crashed into a utility pole causing a portion of Route 14 to be closed on Sept. 29, 2025 in Harvard.

A crash involving a utility pole closed a portion of Route 14 for nearly three hours Monday afternoon in Harvard.

The Harvard Fire Protection District responded to a call at 2:43 p.m. Monday to the 2000 block of North Division Street for a crash involving a pickup truck and a utility pole, Harvard Fire Protection District Public Information Officer Alex Vucha said.

“Firefighters arrived to find the pole snapped at the base and being held by the wires, with the sole occupant still inside the truck,” he said.

Firefighters were able to free the driver and he was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, Vucha said.

Route 14 was closed to traffic in both directions between Garfield and Crowley roads until 5:35 p.m., according to a Harvard Fire Protection District Facebook post.
