Marengo doubles up Plano, moves to 5-0: Week 5 McHenry County roundup

Marengo 28, Plano 14: At Plano, Marengo improved to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the Kishwaukee River Conference by doubling up the Reapers. The Indians scored all four of their touchdowns on the ground. Brady Kentgen punched in a 2-yard TD to kick off the scoring, Sam Vandello scored 1- and 2-yard touchdowns and Logan Boley added an 11-yard score in the fourth quarter.

Boley and Conner Sacco ran for 87 yards apiece to lead the backfield. The Indians will look to stay unbeaten next week at home against Johnsburg.

Alden-Hebron 51, Rockford Christian Life 18: At Hebron, the Giants (5-0) continued their perfect season in an Illinois 8-Man Football Association win over the Eagles. Louie Bageanis ran for 171 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries, also adding a 10-yard TD reception.

JP Stewart was 7-of-8 passing for 171 yards and three touchdowns, also adding 20 yards rushing. Fabian Carreno tallied four catches for 116 yards, including 50- and 13-yard TDs. Jack Stewart chipped in six carries for 49 yards, Cohl Armbrust had 27 yards rushing and Colton Crowell scored on a 4-yard run.

Cary-Grove 40, Crystal Lake Central 6: At Cary, the Trojans picked up their third straight victory to get above .500 after starting the season with losses to Prairie Ridge and Burlington in the Fox Valley Conference. QB Jackson Berndt accounted for four total TDs (two passing, two rushing) and 123 total yards for the Trojans.

Cary-Grove (3-2, 3-2) will hit the road against Dundee-Crown in Week 6. Crystal Lake Central (0-5, 0-5) hosts Jacobs.

Burlington Central 40, Hampshire 14: At Hampshire, the Rockets (4-1, 4-1) got back in the win column with a win over the Whip-Purs (1-4, 1-4). Tyler McGladdery ran 12 times for 113 yards and two TDs, also adding 3½ tackles, including two for a loss.

Theo Curtin was 4-of-9 passing for 70 yards and ran for 32 yards and a pair of TDs. The Rockets racked up 407 total yards, including 320 on the ground.

Central travels to McHenry in Week 6. Hampshire plays at Crystal Lake South.

Sandwich 48, Harvard 7: At Harvard, the Hornets fell to 0-5 and 0-3 in the KRC with a loss to the Indians. Harvard plays at Woodstock North in Week 6.
