Richmond-Burton, Woodstock North volleyball stay perfect in KRC: Wednesday’s Northwest Herald roundup

Girls volleyball

Richmond-Burton 2, Sandwich 0: At Sandwich, Dani Hopp had five aces and three kills as the Rockets won the Kishwaukee River Conference contest 25-12, 25-11. Addy Woods added seven assists for R-B.

Johnsburg 2, Marengo 0: At Marengo, Abriana Bruns had 13 digs and Adelaide Bruns dished out 15 assists as the Skyhawks won 25-13, 25-13 in their KRC match. Kaia Sasak had five kills for Johnsburg.

Woodstock North 2, Harvard 0: At Woodstock, the Thunder cruised past the Hornets 25-8, 25-6 in a KRC matchup. Addy Crabill had seven kills to lead the way for North. Madison McDonough had three kills for Harvard.

Boys soccer

Woodstock North 6, Johnsburg 0: At Johnsburg, the Thunder shut out the Skyhawks in a KRC game.

Plano 5, Marengo 1: At Plano, the Reapers defeated the Indians in a KRC contest.

Harvard 9, Sandwich 0: At Harvard, the Hornets picked up their first KRC with a shutout of the Indians.

Grayslake North 172, Johnsburg 190: At Renwood in Round Lake Beach, Jacob Smith carded a 45 and Nicco Hansen added 47 to lead the Skyhawks in the nonconference dual.

Plano 168, Woodstock North 171, Richmond-Burton 185: At Cedardell in Plano, Ben Weir of Woodstock North shot a 39 to tie for second and Matthew Fansler added 42 to take fourth for the Thunder. Ryan Scholberg of R-B shot a 42 to tie Fansler.

Girls golf

Prairie Ridge 196, Dundee-Crown 236: At Turnberry in Lakewood, Grace Mertel led the Wolves with a top score of 40 for Prairie Ridge. Callie Roberts and Lily Meyers finished second and third.

Huntley 175, McHenry 196: At Pinecrest in Huntley, Miranda Hoeft shot a 1-over-par 37 to lead the Red Raiders to the win. Kinsey Hayes finished second for Huntley. Abigail Shoemaker shot a 41 and Madelyn Blake a 44 for McHenry.

Crystal Lake Central co-op 171, Burlington Central 187: At Whisper Creek in Huntley, Rylee Rud of Crystal Lake Central co-op shot a 40, just edging out Lexi Gibson of Burlington Central (41). Ella Nawracaj and Giuliana Dickson finished third and fourth for the Tigers.

Girls tennis

McHenry 5, Woodstock 0: At McHenry, Grace Betts (No. 1) and Lizzie Mueller (No. 2) both won at singles, while Kaitlyn Miller and Christina Luedtke (No. 1), Izzie Townsend and Briana Freund (No. 2), and Kaitlyn McAuliffe and Sophie Vazquez (No. 3) picked up wins at doubles for the Warriors in a nonconference sweep of the Streaks.

McHenry 3, Woodstock North 2: At McHenry, Mueller (No. 2 singles), Townsend and Freund (No. 2 doubles), and McAuliffe and Vazquez (No. 3 doubles) led the Warriors to a nonconference win against the Thunder.

Katelyn Baker (No. 1 singles) and Hannah Reinhard and Maren Filetti (No. 1 doubles) won for North.

Grayslake North 5, Johnsburg 2: At Grayslake, Lexi Dercole and Summer Toussaint (No. 2 doubles) and Kalissa Sherman and Kayla Hiller (No. 3 doubles) picked up wins for the Skyhawks.
