One person is dead following a crash Sunday night in Spring Grove that also knocked out power in the area for several hours into Monday.

Winn Road between Marin Road and Monterra Drive closed to traffic at 5:43 a.m. Monday, according to a McHenry County Sheriff’s Office alert, which also said power could be out to the area for up to seven hours.

According to a Spring Grove Police Department release, an officer came upon a single-vehicle crash at about 11:13 p.m. Sunday on the 9000 block of Winn Road.

The preliminary investigation indicates a black Chevrolet pickup truck driven by an adult male was traveling south on Winn Road when it crossed the center line and left the roadway. The vehicle continued south along the far ditch line and struck two telephone poles. Speed also appears to be a contributing factor in the crash, according to the release.

The driver, who was ejected from the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to officials.

The Major Crash Assistance Team assisted with the investigation and more information will be available following their investigation into the crash, according to the release.

The identity of the deceased has not been released.

In a separate crash Friday, two people died when their car collided with another, sending both careening into a home near Harvard.
