A driver suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon near Marengo that resulted in both cars ending up in a field and one flipping, officials reported.
The Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts responded to a call at 2:44 p.m. Monday to the intersection of County Line and Kishwaukee Valley roads for a reported crash. First responders from Marengo and Boone County arrived to a “two-vehicle crash with moderate to heavy damage,” Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts public information officer Alex Vucha said in a news release.

Both cars were found off the road in a field southeast of the intersection, and one was overturned. Both drivers, each the sole occupants of their vehicles, exited their cars before first responders arrived, Vucha said.
A medical helicopter flew one male driver with serious injuries to a hospital in Rockford for further treatment. The other male driver was evaluated at the scene and declined further medical care, Vucha said.
Kishwaukee Valley Road was closed to traffic in both directions for more than an hour, Vucha said. The crash is under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
