Police presence in Union due to training exercise Wednesday

Officers from the McHenry County Sheriff and other departments investigate a shooting in the 5800 block of Wild Plum Road in unincorporated Crystal Lake Wednesday Aug. 9, 2023. The department was called to the scene at around 3:50 a.m. for reports of multiple gunshots fired. according to Tim Creighton, from the sheriff’s department five people were found at the home. Three women were deceased, a women, and man were transported to the hospital where the man later died.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office conducted a training exercise until about 4 p.m. Wednesday at Donley Auctions at 8512 S. Union Road in Union.

A heavy police presence, including drones and K-9 officers, was expected during the exercise, the nature of which was not specified.
