No more bull: Escaped bovine recaptured after six days on the lam in Barrington Hills

The escaped 1,600-pound bull was successfully wrangled back into captivity Thursday, Aug. 31, 2023, after six days of freedom in Barrington Hills.

The 1,600-pound bull that escaped a Barrington Hills resident’s property was found and wrangled by a professional Aug. 31, police said.

Barrington Hills public information officer William Walsh said the bull was safely and successfully brought under control about 3:30 p.m. near where it was first reported missing in the area of Route 62 and Old Sutton Road.

The owner hired Wesley Bush of 2B Wild Cattle Catching Services to capture and relocate it, village officials said.

Between the first report of the stray bull Aug. 25 and its capture Aug. 31, there had been only one documented sighting on Aug. 29, when it was picked up by a resident’s security camera about a half-mile north of its initial spotting. Authorities had cautioned residents to call 911 if they spotted the bull and avoid approaching it.
