TV advertising has already begun in Illinois’ 2026 Democrat primary for U.S. Senate, and new fundraising numbers released Tuesday show the race is shaping up to be expensive

State Sen. Dave Syverson, R-Cherry Valley, said this week he’ll seek a fifth term in the 35th District, and if reelected would fight against Democrat-led immigration policies including sanctuary cities and laws that prevent police from assisting federal immigration agents.

Four-term State Rep. Dan Ugaste, R-Geneva, said he is exploring a possible run for Illinois governor, even as Gov. JB Pritzker announced Thursday morning he would seek a third term.
