A look at the top boys and girls bowlers in the NewsTribune area this winter, including bowlers from La Salle-Peru, St. Bede, Hall-Putnam County and Mendota.

La Salle-Peru junior Olivia Weber is the 2022-23 NewsTribune Girls Bowler of the Year after leading the area in average and helping the Cavaliers place sixth at state for the second year in a row.

In a fantastic local battle, Lockport edged Joliet West for its third straight IHSA state bowling title, while St. Charles East's Lida Burgos won the individual title and Lani Breedlove placed seventh to lead Oswego to fifth place.

With an experienced roster, the La Salle-Peru girls bowling team is hoping to finish in the top three at the state tournament this weekend.

Local teams Sterling, Dixon, Erie-Prophetstown, LaSalle-Peru and others meet at Plum Hollow in Dixon Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023 for bowling regionals.

The La Salle-Peru boys and girls bowling teams claimed the team titles at their own Cavalier Classic on Saturday, while Streator's Brady Grabowski and St. Bede's Aubree Acuncius took the individual titles.
