The Illinois Elementary School Association completed its 2025-26 school year with the Class 3A/4A IESA State Meet at Eastside Centre in East Peoria, with multiple area large-school student-athletes capturing all-state honors.
Overcast and high 60s made for ideal conditions for IHSA's girls state track and field championships on Saturday in Charleston.

The IESA held its Class 1A and 2A State Meet over the weekend for both seventh- and eighth-graders At EastSide Centre in East Peoria. Multiple Times-area student-athletes earned state medals for top-eight finishes in their respective events.

In almost every event in the 1A Seneca Sectional on Thursday night, a Fighting Irish track and field athlete was competing for the lead and producing points en route to another championship while advancing multiple girls to state.

Teams from Beecher, IC Catholic, Yorkville Christian, Westmont, Serena, Dwight, Somonauk, Seneca, Peotone, Earlville, Reed Custer, Marquette, Aurora Christian and Newark all competed in the Class 1A Sectional meet on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Seneca High School.

Mendota junior Mariyah Elam and Morris senior Ava Conley both put together strong efforts, qualifying for the state finals in three events in Wednesday’s IHSA Class 2A Mendota Girls Track and Field Sectional.

Teams from Sterling, Rock Falls, Mendota, Princeton, Streator, La Salle-Peru, Ottawa, Coal City, Morris and Herscher all competed during the Class 2A Sectional track meet on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 in the Jeff Prusator Athletic Complex at Mendota High School.

The 2025 edition of the IESA Class 3A/4A State Track Meet is being held this weekend, and The Times area saw a handful of area athletes qualify out of various sectionals.
