Girls Track | The Times

Mendota junior Mariyah Elam and Morris senior Ava Conley both put together strong efforts, qualifying for the state finals in three events in Wednesday’s IHSA Class 2A Mendota Girls Track and Field Sectional.

Teams from Sterling, Rock Falls, Mendota, Princeton, Streator, La Salle-Peru, Ottawa, Coal City, Morris and Herscher all competed during the Class 2A Sectional track meet on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 in the Jeff Prusator Athletic Complex at Mendota High School.

Here are the 2026 preview capsules of girls track and field teams from around the Times coverage area.

Madelyn Martin will be continuing her education at Knox College iand her track and field career with the Prairie Fire.

Natalie Misener has committed to continue her education at Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais and both her track and cross country careers at the NAIA level with the Tigers.

Recent Seneca graduate Evelyn O’Connor has committed to continue her education and running career at Saginaw Valley State University.

Sandwich distance ace Sunny Weber, who repeated as Class 2A 3,200-meter run state champion and also won the 1,600 in a state-record time, is the 2025 Times Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year.

The schools of The Times area sent plenty of athletes to the IHSA Girls Track and Field State Meet. Here are those state qualifiers, the 2025 Times Girls Track and Field All-Area Honor Roll.

Five different Times-area competitors/relay teams brought home IESA track and field championships, representing Shepherd, Serena, Fieldcrest, Somonauk and Dwight.
