Riverside police are investigating a rash of car burglaries that have taken place over the past few days.
There were incidents on the 200 and 300 block of East Quincy Street, the 200 and 300 block of Lawton Road, the 200 and 300 block of Gage Road, and the zero to 100 block of South Delaplaine Road, police said.
In some cases, items were taken from unlocked cars. In others instances, offenders tried to gain entry to a vehicle, but the car was locked and nothing was stolen.
One attempted burglary occurred between 5:45 and 5:55 a.m., however, all other incidents have taken place after midnight, police said.
Police has video and still footage of one offender that will be released as soon as detectives are able to produce it from a home video surveillance system.
The individual is walking in front or rear yards and driveways and trying car door handles to see if the vehicle is unlocked or looking in the cars for items of value, police said.
Residents are reminded to: lock their cars, remove valuables from their cars, leave a light on outside the home and call 911 to report any suspicious activity. Police have increased patrol in these areas and officers are, at times, on foot patrol during these hours as well.
