High school sports roundup for Tuesday, Feb. 9: Lauren Huber, Glenbard East rally to win OT thriller

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Glenbard East 50, Glenbard North 45 (OT)

Lauren Huber poured in 22 points, scoring the tying basket as time expired in regulation and six more points in overtime, and grabbed 15 rebounds in the Rams’ thrilling win. With four seconds left in the fourth quarter on a sideline play Huber drove and tied the game up.

The Rams trailed by seven points with two minutes left, but Katie Mulatz hit a 3-pointer and another field goal to close Glenbard West within two, setting up Huber’s late heroics. Emily Ryan added eight points and seven rebounds and Denise Navar six points and eight rebounds for Glenbard East (2-0).

BOYS BASKETBALL

Timothy Christian 66, Bishop McNamara 52

Ben VanderWal scored 26 points and grabbed 17 rebounds and Josh Harris added 24 points and seven boards to carry the host Trojans (1-1) past Bishop McNamara.

IC Catholic Prep 56, St. Edward 22

TJ Tyrrell become the winningest coach in IC Catholic program history, passing Darren Howard. Danny Roberto scored 14 points and John Hilgart added 10 for the Knights.
