Beauty services available at both La Grange, Burr Ridge locations

Salon Hype owner Carissa Porter (left) teamed with Victoria Senyk, owner of Aesthetics Temple, to offer med spa services at salons in La Grange and Burr Ridge.

Whether you call it two-for-one shopping or beautifying the interior and exterior, Salon Hype has launched a new med spa service.

Salon Hype, with locations in La Grange and Burr Ridge, is offering med spa service from Victoria Senyk of Aesthetics Temple – vitamins and botox, for example - to enhance its menu of beauty services.

Carissa Porter, 47, of Western Springs, who founded Salon Hype in 2005, is excited to offer med spa services to her customers. She has 400 to 600 weekly.

“(Senyk) wants to be down here. Wants to come into this market. She’s like myself, a single mom. Together, let’s hit it hard. Let’s work. We have to find ways to find new clientele to stay fresh, to stay new to stay relevant,” Porter said.

Senyk is at the La Grange salon on Wednesdays. She also offers injections one day a month at the Burr Ridge location “if someone doesn’t want to come here,” Porter said.

“She does the injections and all the aftercare,” Porter said of Senyk. “She has the medical license. I don’t. We have the space available.”

It’s a match made in retail heaven, as both mentioned in separate interviews.

“If they’re getting five services done in this building – nails, waxing, skin care, color, haircut and one of their techs, they’re most likely to stay here,” Porter said.

“Health and wellness is more than just beauty. It’s more than what my hair looks like. It’s also feeling good ... And having access to these cutting-edge treatments right here in La Grange,” Porter said.

The addition of med spa services from Aesthetic Temple, Porter said, “is designed to offer our clients a one-stop sanctuary for rejuvenation, with treatments that respect the skin and body’s natural balance.”

Senyk, 36, of Harwood Heights, said she and Porter have much in common, as each is a divorced mother who owns her own businesses.

In our post-Covid 19 world, people know their time is precious, Senyk said. That’s another reason for the pairing.

“When they have time to spend here, we wanted to provide them a one-stop shop and to give them a quality of care that’s based on their individual needs,” Senyk said.

She is at the La Grange salon every other Wednesday.

Focusing on the wellness aspect, she offers injectable vitamins “which are different than any vitamin you take orally,” Senyk said.

“They’re in an active form so your body doesn’t have to go through that transformation,” she said, meaning the injected vitamins take effect faster and more thoroughly.

“You can see a change in their skin and in their hair. We’re seeing after COVID people with hair loss, things we haven’t seen before. They need an extra boost go get back to being healthy,” Senyk said.

An adult geriatric nurse practitioner, she works with people who are aging.

Pricing starts at $30 for injections.

“I suggest at least monthly if not bi-monthly, then we can look at supplements to take home with them,” Senyk said.

“You can go on Amazon and order anything, but you don’t know where it’s being sourced. We like to use products made in America, that is medical grade and clinically tested to be clean and helpful,” she said.

She wanted to expand her business from Northbrook to the western suburbs, so working through Salon Hype has helped with that.

Senyk and Porter both get injections.

“I don’t think it’s ethical to sell something I don’t believe in. ... I’m treating you because you’re getting results,” Senyk said.

“As women, we need to get into the mindset of empowering one another instead of competing. We want to be in a positive environment,” Senyk added.

Porter agreed, adding It’s all about “affordable luxury” for their customers. Salon Hype’s La Grange location can be reached at 708-352-4222. The Burr Ridge location can be reached at 630-323-4222.
