Teams from Coal City, Herscher, Joliet Catholic, Manteno, Morris, Ottawa, and Streator all competed during the Class 2A boys track and field Sectional on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Pontiac High School.
Joliet West host the Southwest Prairie Conference championship on Wednesday afternoon.

Athletes from a dozen area teams met up at the Manteno Invite on Friday, getting in some valuable work with the outdoor season already starting to wind down.

Lockport's Nolan Lamoureux won state in the 800m run and was a part of the 3A state runner-up 4x400 relay team, making him an easy choice for 2025 Herald-News Boys Track Athlete of the year.

Lockport senior Nolan Lamoureux used a ferocious kick to become the Class 3A champion in the 800-meter run at the IHSA state meet in Charleston, while Dwight sophomore Graham Meister repeated as Class 1A shot put champ in leading area medalists.
