Oswego senior Kiyah Chavez, an Iowa softball commit, became the first state medalist in the school girls wrestling program's history on Saturday when she took second at 155 pounds at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington.

Oswego senior Kiyah Chavez advanced to the state wrestling tournament semifinals and teammate Aaliyah Roldan is still alive for a medal, while at state swimming Oswego Co-op’s 400 freestyle relay of Chase Maier, Owen Lippoldt, Tyler Liska and Ethan Schrader swam the top time.

Aurora Christian defeated Yorkville Christian in the Class 1A Indian Creek Regional final on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025 in Shabbona.

Aurora Christian kept its cool against Yorkville Christian during Friday’s Class 1A Indian Creek Regional championship game, the first game ever between the two programs. The Eagles overwhelmed the Mustangs with a 17-0 run in the third quarter, blowing the game open to win 68-48.

Benet and Oswego East combined for just three field goals in the fourth quarter as the Redwings claimed a 49-40 win to collect a regional title on the Wolves' home court.

Oswego East's Quinn Janssens has enjoyed a spectacular sophomore season, carrying a 48-3 record after winning regional and sectional championships. Now she's set for her state tournament debut in Bloomington.

The Hinckley-Big Rock Royals and the Serena Huskers boys basketball teams defeated the Marquette Crusaders and Newark Norsemen, respectively, in Wednesday's Class 1A Marquette Regional semifinals at Bader Gym. H-BR and Serena will meet at 7 p.m. on Friday in the title game.

Jacsen Tucker certainly chose a great time to have a breakout game, coming off the bench to score 12 points and collect eight rebounds as Oswego East held off Plainfield South 42-36 during Wednesday’s Class 4A Oswego East Regional semifinals.
