Public invited to Montgomery, Oswego police, fire department National Night Out events this evening

Area residents of all ages can meet with local first responders in area parks

The Montgomery and Oswego police departments are again participating in the annual National Night Out program to promote partnerships and relationships between communities and law enforcement.

National Night Out is, according to the program’s website, “an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live.”

On Tuesday evening, Aug. 3, the Montgomery police will visit several locations throughout the village in conjunction with local fire departments, while the Oswegoland Park District will host Oswego police at Prairie Point Park in Oswego.

Residents are welcome to join Montgomery’s officers and firefighters from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Montgomery Park, 300 North River Street; Lakewood Creek Elementary School, 2301 Lakewood Creek Drive; McDole School, 2901 Foxmoor Drive; Huntington Chase Park, at Gordon Road and Thomas Lane; and in Aurora Township at Oakland and Jackson Streets, State Street and Melrose Avenue, and at Amber and Park Drives.

Each location will feature activities for children, an opportunity to view police cars and fire trucks, and a chance to meet and interact with local first responders.

The Oswegoland Park District will host Oswego police from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Prairie Point Park, and will have frozen treats and games available, as well as a chance to meet officers and view squad cars up close.
