One person dead, another injured at Chick-fil-A in Oswego following two stabbing attacks

Suspect is in custody

The Chick-fil-A restaurant at 2740 U.S. Route 34 in Oswego on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025.

One man is dead and another man remains hospitalized following two stabbing attacks Wednesday morning at the Chick-fil-A restaurant at 2740 U.S. Route 34 in Oswego.

The suspect, an adult male, has been taken into custody. About 5 a.m., Oswego police were called to the Chick-fil-A restaurant for a report of a stabbing.

It was reported that the offender still was on scene and was being held down by a victim, police said.

Officers arrived on the scene within four minutes of being dispatched and took the offender into custody, police said. Officers immediately began administering medical aid to the injured victim until members of the Oswego Fire Protection District arrived on the scene, police said.

That victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. Officers conducted a protective sweep of the restaurant and located a second victim, who was unresponsive and was pronounced deceased at the scene, police said.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the offender attacked one adult male victim about 3:06 a.m. and another adult male victim about 5 a.m., police said.

No restaurant employees were at the restaurant at the time. A witness, who observed the second victim being attacked, called police.

Police still are investigating a motive for the attacks. The Kendall County Major Crimes Task Force has been activated to assist with the investigation and processing of the scene.

The Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office and Kendall County Coroner’s Office also have responded to the scene.

Oswego police plan to release further information when it becomes available.
