Driver killed in crash on Route 47 in Kendall County

Sheriff’s Office is investigating crash that also sent passenger to hospital

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred at approximately 11:56 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Route 47 and Walker Road in Kendall Township.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle traveling east on Walker Road entered the intersection at Route 47 and collided with a semi-truck traveling south, according to a news release from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the sole passenger was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the release.

The driver’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to the release. The semi-truck driver was evaluated by paramedics and released at the scene.

Investigators from the Illinois State Police assisted with the investigation and conducted a traffic crash reconstruction. The investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available, the sheriff’s office said.

The roadway was closed for about four and a half hours as the investigation was being conducted.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Yorkville Police Department, the Illinois State Police, Bristol-Kendall Fire Protection District, Illinois Department of Transportation, Kendall Township and the Kendall County Coroner’s Office.
