The Venue in downtown Aurora announces its coming concerts.
Patrick Sweany appears at 8 p.m. Friday, March 4. In 2020, undeterred by not being able to tour, Sweany began experimenting with the duo The Greyhounds, re-recording some of his oldest material, sprinkling in some new content and an odd cover or two. The recordings are part of a Volume 1, Volume 2 series being released by Nine Mile Records. Premium seating costs $25, and general admission $20. All ticket prices increase by $5 at the door.
Steve Dawson and Lucid Dreams will star at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 5. Dawson built a solid reputation for songwriting with his time in Dolly Varden, a news release stated. He has been hailed as one of the most underrated songwriters in American music. A natural evolution has occurred within the six solo albums he’s created. Dawson teaches songwriting at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, and co-wrote the book “Take It to the Bridge: Unlocking the Great Songs Inside You,” with Mark Caro. His band, his arrangements and his shows are known to be outstanding, said concert organizers. Tickets cost $20 and $15.
Jackopierce brings its infectious harmonies and acoustic guitar work to the stage at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 6. For 30 years, the duo of Jack O’Neill and Cary Pierce have been bringing melodic, feel-good music to the masses. They’ve toured with the likes of Sheryl Crow, Toad The Wet Sprocket, and the Dave Matthews Band, and been featured on “The Conan O’Brien Show.” Tickets cost $35 and $25.
The Pete Ellman Jazz Big Band will continue its weekly residency series at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8. The opening set will feature Oak Prairie Junior High School musicians, followed by the headliner. General admission costs $5. The series is sponsored by the Fox Valley Music Foundation.
Terrapin Flyer brings the Grateful Dead to life at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 10. Terrapin Flyer has been known as Chicago’s premier Dead band for over 20 years, the release stated. The band has played with members of The Dead and Dead-related projects. As part of The Venue’s Dead Night, the band performs the second Thursday of every month. Bring your dancing shoes and leave your troubles at the door, invites The Venue. Tickets cost $20 and $15.
Masks are optional, but all patrons must be fully vaccinated with an FDA emergency use-authorized vaccine in order to attend a show. Proof of vaccination must be shown at the box office entrance, along with a photo ID to enter the event space.
