A sinkhole was discovered Monday afternoon in St. Charles, prompting the city to temporarily close off the intersection of Ohio Avenue and South Sixth Avenue.

After crews with the city’s public works department excavated the area Tuesday morning, the roadway was repaired and reopened.

The crew is investigating to determine the cause of the sinkhole.

Nobody has been reported injured from the sinkhole.

The city said the roadway is currently completely open to use.
