Streator approves $275K for streets, sidewalk improvement project

Work is expected to begin next week

Everett Street and Ralph Plumb Street are among the roadways slated for resurfacing as part of Streator’s 2026 General Revenue Roadway Project.

Streator City Council approved a $275K contract for street work planned next week.

The project will resurface Boys Street, North Everett Street, Ralph Plumb Street and a section of Tea Garden Road. Crews will also repair sidewalks along South Vermillion Street.

Crews from Universal Asphalt & Excavating Inc. will remove the top layer of the existing pavement before adding a fresh layer of asphalt to make the streets smoother and easier to drive on.

Work is scheduled to start Monday, March 2.
