Streator library plans winter activities for all ages

Programs include crafts, story times, new year events

A Streator woman, Karis A. Maple, was cited for theft after taking a donation box from the Streator Public Library.

The Streator Public Library has scheduled multiple programs and activities from Dec. 29 through Jan. 3, including scavenger hunts, craft sessions, and special events for children and families.

Ongoing programs through Jan. 3

  • Snowmen Scavenger Hunt: Participants search the library for hidden items, with themes changing weekly.
  • Lego Club: Build and create activities for ages 5 and younger (parents must be present).

Special events

  • Make It: TikTok workshop – from 5 to 6 p.m. Dec. 29 for ages 10 and older; teaches safe ways to create trendy videos
  • Afternoon Watercolor – from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 30 for ages 10 and older
  • Snowmen Storytime – from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 30 for ages 5 and younger
  • Noon Year’s Eve Party – from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 31 for all ages; features crafts, games and a special countdown
  • Stuffed Animal Sleepover – drop-off from 3 to 4 p.m. Jan. 2 for children
  • Stuffed Animal Sleepover pick-up – all day Jan. 3
  • Family Day – from 1 to 2 p.m. Jan. 3 for all ages; combines play activities for children with information about library resources for parents

All programs are free and open to the public.
