Senior running back Martin Cohen finished with a career-high five touchdowns in a 41-6 victory against Lakes to improve to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Northern Lake County Conference.

The one thing that was consistent in a wild one Friday in Vernon Hills – Lakes never trailed, defeating its hosts 31-20.

Shep Ratnow scored touchdowns on both of his catches, but his biggest play was a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown after Lakes had tied it as Vernon Hills went on to a 28-21 win.

The Bears are expected to sign Philadelphia Eagles linebacker T.J. Edwards to a three-year contract, according to multiple reports. Edwards grew up in Lake Villa and played quarterback at Lakes.

The Bulldogs’ offense was led by junior running back Connor Vanselow, who seemed to cut through, spin around, run over, and elude just about every single Eagles defender. He finished the game with five touchdowns.
