One of two children critically injured in a single-vehicle crash on East Illinois Route 17 last week has died.

According to the Cook County Medical Examiner, 10-year-old Ombre Mangram, of Pembroke Township, died Monday at Comer Children’s Hospital.

The condition of the other child is unknown.

About 11:32 p.m. Feb. 12, deputies responded to the crash near the 3700 block of East Illinois Route 17, the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies were dispatched after KanComm received an automated crash alert from an iPhone.

Deputies discovered a pickup partially submerged in almost 2 feet of partially frozen creek water.

The vehicle was driven by 58-year-old Phyllis A. Moses, of Pembroke Township, and was occupied by two young children at the time of the crash.

Moses was taken to a local hospital, where she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
